I've been a working web designer since I taught myself how to edit WordPress sites in 2013. I got hooked on the idea of being able to create things on the internet, eventually taught myself basic frontend coding, then took a bootcamp course to achieve a certificate in UI Design from The Iron Yard in 2016.
My experience in design has been mostly freelance, and I've had the privilege of working on various projects from small business websites to B2B web apps. My current full time role is providing product design and support for a large LA-based hospitality company.
To supplement my freelance income while I was starting out, I bartended. Serving people with true hospitality requires design thinking at a ridiculous pace -- Bartenders are constantly empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing. Having this experience with people directly not only strengthened my understanding of Human-Centered Design, but has also shown me how to serve clients in a way that delights them.
I'm always looking to improve, and that's why you'll always find me listening to podcasts and audiobooks, reading articles and newsletters, and taking courses on web and product design. Here's what I can currently claim expertise in:
I'm not always in front on my computer, and when I'm not working, I'm usually outside. I love the lifestyle living in Southern California provides me. You'll see me on hiking trails, at the beach, falling off a surfboard, or with my fiancée taking our dogs Aspen and Archie on a walk to the coffee shop.
